Engaging stories about words! The author picked 25 distinct root words to visualize a host of untold stories. Inspirational and worth the time spent. As the author outlines, you will learn the easy way to memorize new words- by relating to the story of the word, how it originated.

The same time, the word explanations are done in a distinct direction. Here's a random paragraph I pulled to explain how the author does that. Love the way it is done.

"When you are being educated, you are being led to gain more knowledge. Similarly, when you introduce yourself to somebody, you expect that it will lead you to know the other person better. As you read through the book, the root words has more meaning to it, aside from being just a word. By providing meaning behind the work can trigger the long-term memory in the brain. This book reinforces the best way of increasing or learning new vocabulary words. Wordzo simplifies language-learning process. This book is really a page-turner. You will want to keep learning and learning!

Trivia-tastic!

This book is jam packed with interesting information!

I like how it tells you a root word and then elaborates from there, how things got their names and why. My favorite was definitely the origination of the word duke and the coin ducats. I have a lot of interest in the Regency time period- so that was really fascinating for me.

This book is a great read to expand your vocabulary or just for anyone wanting to learn interesting bits of trivia to share with your friends.

Each root word and it's accompanying story is short, so it holds your attention and ends before you start to get overwhelmed.

All in all this is a great book, and I am glad I stumbled across it. I will be looking for more interesting trivia from this author.

Bait and Switch

I got the books however your picture above shows the first printing. I got a cheaper version of a reprint. Some sites I visited showed the reprinted version. I selected your site thinking I would get the earlier version. I had some but not all of the first printing. Wanted to fill in the missing books. Try some place else next time where you can actually go and pick it off of a shelf. First and last on-line order!

Also since the order I have got nothing but junk mail from sites I could give a crap about. Time to change the ole email address again!!

About the Author
Dougal Dixon has written more than 120 books, including many on dinosaurs, fossils, and Earth science subjects. Since 1980, Dougal has been a full-time freelance writer and editor. His books have won the Times Educational Supplement, Primary School Book Award for Science in 1996, the Helen Roney Sattler Award from the Dinosaur Society in 1993, and the Educational Press Association of America Distinguished Achievement Award in 1993. Dougal lives in Wareham in Dorset, England, with his wife Jean. He has two children, Gavin and Lindsay.

The History of Love spans of period of over 60 years and takes readers from Nazi-occupied Eastern Europe to present day Brighton Beach. At the center of each main character's psyche is the issue of loneliness, and the need to fill a void left empty by lost love. Leo Gursky is a retired locksmith who immigrates to New York after escaping SS officers in his native Poland, only to spend the last stage of his life terrified that no one will notice when he dies. ("I try to make a point of being seen. Sometimes when I'm out, I'll buy a juice even though I'm not thirsty.") Fourteen-year-old Alma Singer vacillates between wanting to memorialize her dead father and finding a way to lift her mother's veil of depression. At the same time, she's trying to save her brother Bird, who is convinced he may be the Messiah, from becoming a 10-year-old social pariah. As the connection between Leo and Alma is slowly unmasked, the desperation, along with the potential for salvation, of this unique pair is also revealed.

Krauss’s second novel (after 2002’s Man Walks Into a Room) originally appeared in abbreviated form in The New Yorker. That piece failed to capture the novel’s maddening complexity and brilliance. Critics describe History of Love as poignant, hilarious, and ingenious—and perhaps too smart for its own good. The literary pyrotechnics that some commended—the doppelgängers, the "decoding" of different journal entries, translations, and lists, the nested stories—confounded others. "The writer’s connections are closer to tangles," complained the Los Angeles Times, and mask a simple, powerful, message. Yet most reviewers, who quickly compared Krauss’s work to her husband Jonathan Safran Foer’s Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close (*** page 38), agreed that her work is more restrained, her characters more illuminating, and the novel as a whole a bit superior.

At some point I admitted to myself that I had no idea what was going on in this book and that apparently I lost the story; I felt bewildered. Scolding myself for attentiveness, I scurried back to try once again, taking notes lest I lose my way again. No matter, lost again to the end.

Exactly What the Title Says

No filler pages in this book. You can tell this book was something around 700-1000 pages when started and accompanied with 30+ years of experiences as opposed to other books that have a point but then waste your life with repetitiveness and unrelated topics. Distilled down to what it is now, you get exactly what you need to be "Healthy" and probably gives everyone a little something that they have forgotten or have never done that is basic, important or worth observation.

Thankfully, Chek has left his relatively, incoherent babbling about spirituality to his Youtube channels. It's not that what Chek says isn't true or dumb but is something that is very, very difficult to put into words. Things that are more easily measured (dieting, movement, balances and imbalances, etc) are what he stays focused on. I believe things about spirituality tend to be more personal experienced, and we use art and religious language (bathed in the blood of the lamb) to communicate what (or the emotions) we've experienced to other people.

Chek's bread and butter is with movement and muscles, and you get a glimpse into his philosophy and holistic approach to life in this book. Chek has done a good job distilling the essentials into a relatively small book where each page oozes with essential info.

I give this 4 stars because I wish his other items (DVD's, Books, Articles, etc.) were readily available on Amazon since there is more to learn from this man and I think he can give us something better, thicker and meatier. Maybe a specially enhanced authors version?

This book changed my life

If you are interested in holistic health, then this is the right book for you. I was initially turned off by the textbook approach to health, but once I started finding useful principles that I could actually apply, I knew the purchase was worth it. The information is presented in a very matter of fact type of way and I've been fortunate to have it dispel many of the myths regarding health that I've accepted as true over the years. I'm no longer wasting my time with fad diets and counting every calorie in every meal. Who has time for that? I am constantly learning to understand my body and give it what it needs (which is not always what it wants), when it needs it. Some topics could go more in depth, but then the book would likely need a Part II. This book is for anyone looking to learn about overall health and why certain things will (and will not) work for the body based on your specific eating habits/type. Highly recommend!

great book, lives up to its name

There’s not much more I can say that others haven't. I was first told about the book from a fitness instructor. As a former athlete, I thought I knew it all when it came to fitness and training...boy how wrong I was. For example, I used lift a lot of weights, but wouldn’t stretch unless I was about to play basketball. Even when I did, it was minimal stretching...and I wondered why I kept re-aggravating old college injuries, and why my body wouldn’t "heal" like it used to. I know better now, even though I’m still a work in progress, there have been great improvements in fitness and how good I feel every day. I also eat MUCH better, and get more quality rest going to bed by 10 (well around 10, I'm not perfect, lol)

I have even given out copies of this book to both younger and older family members as well. It’s been a great benefit to me and my family, and I highly encourage EVERYONE to read this book and make the positive life changes to have a healthier, happier life.
