I bought this book while browsing at a bookstore and came to amazon.com to order four more copies for gifts. The book is an amazing reminder to consider what is important in life and to keep living. My favorite passage is: "And it's never too late to start something new, to do all those things you've been longing to do." As a counselor in training, I consider the book's message to be appropriate and encouraging, even for people who have "issues" or are going through life struggles.

This book is really geared towards adults than children. I enjoyed the message and gave this as a gift to someone who had recently decided to leave their job to strike it on their own. This message hit just the right note. I truly is never too late to make a change that is going to ring true to who you are and what brings you joy. The Fascist state ruled Italy violently, projecting its coercive power deeply and diffusely into society through confinement, imprisonment, low-level physical assaults, economic deprivations, intimidation, discrimination, and other quotidian forms of coercion. Moreover, by promoting denunciatory practices, the regime cemented the loyalties of "upstanding" citizens while suppressing opponents, dissenters, and social outsiders. Fascist repression was thus more intense and ideological than previously thought and even shared some important similarities with Nazi and Soviet terror.

Good Continuation of The Game

After reading "The Game" I immediately went to see if the sequel was already out, luckily for me it was so I bought and downloaded it. The story picks up following Danielle in her ongoing play and Zack after his final play and exit of the game. The story is written much like the first from different character's perspective's of what's going on and it is a good continuation of the first, picking up and carrying on with story line. I feel about halfway through this book there are almost too many story lines going on at once with different characters. You find out a bit more about the Infernal/Eternal groups but not really too much more on the whole "time is running out" plot line, and by the end there are a lot more of questions that need answers.

I have no idea when the third book will be released but I've really enjoyed this story so far and am looking forward to reading the next as well.

Even better than the first

I really enjoyed the continuation of this story, and I was pleased that book 2 was even better-written than the first. I find the second book much more thought-provoking. It is obvious that the author has put time and love into his characters to grow them naturally. I will continue to read the series and follow the author. Nice job.

Digital Buyer Beware

I read "The Game", enjoying the read, despite it's flaws. I was very put off by the fact that there was no real ending to the story. Trew is ejected from the Game, and the book ends.

After a few moments of thought, I decided to purchase Part 2 - "Digital Heretic" because, after all, I had gotten "The Game" for free and I thought it was only fair that Mr. Schott make some money for his work. I know that this is a brave new world of authors giving away books, so I bit. Unfortunately Mr. Schott's ploy of not ending the story continues on in Part 2.

I will not go into great detail as others have already written reviews explaining how new characters are introduced and new plot twists are revealed, many of which contradict the 'rules of the Game world' and actual laws of physics. I gladly put up with the miraculous 'rebirths', the Good vs Evil characters and the swirling iris colors of our digital characters to learn the fate of Danielle and Trew. However again the book ends with no resolution to the plot.

At this point I am just annoyed that after two volumes there is no resolution to ANY plot lines. This is NOT a cliff hanger where most of the plot points have been resolved but you want to follow the characters to their next adventure. Digital Heretic has added more characters and increased the plot complexity yet has not resolved the questions from book 1.

How many more books do I have to read to come to the ending? Is this what e-books have become, a never ending serial that keeps you on the hook for volumes? I have read some reviews for book 3, "Interlude Brandon", and most say that it goes into the backstory of Brandon Strayne. But does the story of Danielle and Trew ever end?

Ironically, the timeline for this book on the 'real world of Tygon" has only been a few weeks, but these volumes go on and on.

I'm still not sure if I want to slog through Brandon's story just to get to the end. It was fun while it lasted, but I think I'm done.
